Tennessee Home Insurance

For most Tennesseans, their home is their largest investment.

When you purchase a home, the mortgage company requires you to carry home insurance to rebuild in the event of a loss. Even if you didn’t have a mortgage you would want to protect it and everything in it (your personal property) with the best coverage possible.

After all, this is YOUR home.

There are many coverage options to consider when shopping for home insurance. Make sure you’ve got an advisor that will go over your policy… coverage by coverage. A good advisor will ask a lot of questions to recommend a policy that provides coverage to totally rebuild your home if it were destroyed by a covered loss. They will also explain standard exclusions such as floods, earthquakes and other perils NOT covered by a standard home insurance policy.

A trusted advisor will also ask you about your personal property and explain the limitations built in to most policies. They should also ask you about… do you operate a business out of your home (your policy excludes or limits coverage)… are you in or near a flood area… is your home located in an area susceptible to earthquakes… do you have any special liability exposures such as a swimming pool, a trampoline or a dog that’s a little over-protective.

Plan to spend some time when you get a quote on your home. Make sure there’s no surprises when it comes time to file a claim. Also, plan on getting a quote on your Auto insurance when shopping for your home insurance. Great discounts if you can combine the two types of insurance!
